A pet owner knows the personality and quirks of their beloved pet, but sometimes their behavior can be baffling. You do not have to read your dog’s mind to figure out the problem because somebody else can.
For the past 15 years, Alexandria local Diane Roadcap has been traveling along the East Coast as a pet psychic to help people understand their pets. At her private readings and public events, communication is shared telepathically with the animals. Her next public reading event is on June 27 at the Premier Centre for the Arts in Milton, Delaware.
A lot of the animals she works with are either grieving a death of another animal, struggling with a family’s separation or divorce, living in animal shelters or have been abused or neglected. She also helps out if pets in a home are having a conflicting relationship.
“My work is about making this place a better place for the animals because I feel if we make it better for the animals, we make it better for the humans,” Roadcap says.
She has been communicating with animals since the age of 5 when her pet dog warned her of a nearby poisonous snake. She says it was surprising when she saw the warning as an image in her head before the dog physically reacted.
Throughout her career, there have only been a few times when it was difficult to connect with an animal. A striking encounter was when she met a boxer named Jake at an event, and she says he “just wouldn’t communicate. It just went blank.”
This troubled her, so she decided to see him again, this time at the owner’s home. Jake asked her to go downstairs, and along the staircase she saw plenty of photos of another family dog that passed away.
“Jake said ‘I knew you would come … this is what I wanted you to see,’” Roadcap says. “He said, ‘They need to get beyond this to truly love me.’”
After Jake opened up to her, Roadcap advised the owners that though they should grieve for their lost animal, they also need to honor the pet they still have with them.
She said being able to connect with her pets so deeply is the “most incredible experience besides having your own child. It’s incredible to be able to sense not only their physical needs, but I believe animals are spiritual creatures with a journey to fulfill just like you and I.”
